Antique Edwardian velvet cover photo memento Album Gold edge 9 X 11 X 2" ornate Beautiful soft printed velvet fabric covered photo album with printed rounded covered portrait of an Elizabethan lady in a pink dress with a letter in hand staring out the window. The book is clasped by a hinged metal piece with ornate casting . The pages are bound in individually, and the edge of each page is gold leaf. The ( suspect silk) Velvet has some edge wear. The interior pages are yellowed and there is a stain on the inside of cover and first page ( about a quarter size) There is a piece of book tape inside the front cover, may be original, not sure, and a pencil mark 172/ 300 which I think is the edition. Each page has a remarkable design of lush leaves and flowers, and a gold rimmed cut out for photos. Some of the cross paper pieces are torn. There are photographic post cards, some with writing . The original owner's family was from Ireland, and some of the postcards have pencil markings on the back with "Auntie etc." As well as postcards there are formal portraits. All are silver tone. There is a ghost image from an oval portrait that pressed onto the other page. Not every slot is filled, there are about 20 images inside. The last 4 pages are not in color, but feature double frame windows with gold ink. The 26 other pages have flowers printed in light greens and pink. An amazing find!
